TAD 24- carrot cake!

Today we are headed to a tea party. Just a handful 20-somethings, plus our little girls, because we were feeling generous! I am in charge of dessert...and nothing screams TEA PARTY! like piles of carrots and cream cheese, right?!

TAD 24- caramel corn!

We are snowed in, and caramel corn felt like the perfect way to celebrate. This was my first time making it...and it won't be my last. Yum!

TAD 23- runner, quilted

I got the runner quilted, and am super close to finishing the binding. I love how it's coming together. The tiny lime green binding makes me so happy!

Real creative, right?? Saturdays don't usually leave a lot of free time for crafting...but baking bread can't wait. Mmm.

TAD 18- quilt blocks

Got started today on the blocks for a table runner. A mix of thrifted linens and leftover calico from another project.

TAD 17- tong yuen!

To celebrate the last day of Chinese New Year, and today's full moon, I made some tong yuen (little balls of glutinous rice flour and water). I served them with peach syrup. They were tasty, but came out quite a bit tougher than the ones my MIL made when she taught me. Oh well- I guess that means I just need to try again. Yum!

TAD 16- a teeny blanket

This was meant to be a church-themed White Elephant gift. Get it? It's the Comforter.....

Heh. Yeah.

TAD 15- chili

Today, I made a huge batch of chili. Half was for us, and half went to an ill friend for dinner. And since chili isn't that photogenic....you'll just have to take my word for it. Heh. Cheers!

TAD 14- a hem!

Yes, it took about 5 minutes....but it was totally worth it! My new favorite lounge pants just got a 4" chop, and now I can wear them out without stepping on them. Woohoo!

TAD 10- knit washcloth

I must be the worlds slowest knitter! I started this months ago, and just pulled it out again. I ran out of yarn, so I knotted on another color and kept going. It will be a kitchen dishcloth for my sister when it's done.

TAD 9- Fixing a pillow

My industrious toddler has de-buttoned two of my four sofa pillows over the last year. Each time, it's a hunt to find the missing buttons. I finally had to admit defeat, though, and replace one of the buttons with a fabric button gifted by another blogger. It has a tiny rabbit on it, which I thought was appropriate, given that this is the year of the Rabbit. (by the way, today is the seventh day if the Chinese new year...which makes it EVERYONES birthday. So, you know....happy birthday, y'all. Happy year of the rabbit!!)

TAD 8- wheat bread

I really hoped THIS would be the February that got me into the craft room!! Oh well....creating in the kitchen is tastier! This is an experiment...my favorite bread recipe, using half whole wheat (ground by my awesome sister.)

Hello? Is this thing on?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to set up my Posterous feeds this year...here goes nothing!

Thing a Day is back!

I'm still working on my interpersonal issues between me and Posterous...but at the very least, Posterous put up my first post yesterday. Woot!

Go here to see what I made on the first day of February. My hope is that I get all my ducks in a row, and can document my journey here as well, through the wonders of AutoPost. We'll see.

Happy Chinese New Year, everyone!!
